General Description:  This semester long course is designed to teach the fundamentals of photography. Students will investigate camera controls such as aperture, shutter and film speeds, elements of composition, the history of photography and its influences, various types of photography, and post processing Photoshop techniques. Students will also have an opportunity to explore the fundamentals of developing photos within a darkroom.

  • Photo composition
  • Shooting techniques
  • Basic photo editing techniques

Strategies:  Students will learn through a combination of:

  • Hands on experience
  • Individual and team work
  • Research
  • Modeling

Homework:  Students will need to complete one photo a week as homework, and 5 to 25 photos per project to be taken outside of class.

Course Fee / Materials:  $35 Fee (includes 2 rolls of film & paper).  Students must purchase their own SD card.  Estimated additional cost is $5-10.
