General Description:  Are we all like snowflakes? How do we perceive the world? What causes our emotions? How does development happen? This elective course provides an overview of modern psychology that covers personality, deviant behavior, motivation, attitudes, and group behavior. Guest speakers, activities, and research give students a chance to learn concepts in interesting, active ways.

Content:

  • Unit 1: Personality
  • Unit 2: Development
  • Unit 3: Emotions
  • Unit 4: Sensation & Perception

Strategies:  Students will learn through a variety of strategies:

  • Class discussions
  • Small group work
  • Readings (books and articles)
  • Documentaries

Homework:  Homework will consist of textbook readings to prepare for reading quizzes and any assignment that was unable to be completed during class time.
