General Description: Is there such a thing as normal? If psychology is the study of mental processes and our behaviors, when do we consider these things abnormal? When should we label someone as having a disorder? And how can we re-shape the discussion to focus on what works for people instead of what doesn’t? These are complex questions that require an understanding of the way psychology assesses and treats people who are seemingly “abnormal”. We will examine the ways that psychology shapes our understanding of ourselves and those around us.
