Learning Recommendations: C or better in Woods Technology 1.

General Description: This is a comprehensive course in advanced woodworking skills and techniques. Planning and designing projects will be explored. Required project(s) are assigned and a large section of time will be set aside for students to select and produce their own projects of choice.

This course can be taken multiple times for credit.  Each course builds upon the last and leads students to increasingly greater skill levels.  

Content:

  • Lab and equipment safety
  • Multiple hand and power tools
  • Large stationary power tools
  • Careers in woodworking construction, industrial trends, post-high school education requirements for various
  • Career-related employment trades

Strategies:  Students learn through a combination of:

  • Teacher demonstration
  • Student practice and construction in the shop

Homework:  Wood shop does not have a homework component.  All work will be completed during class time.  Students who need additional time to complete their projects will be given opportunities each week to come and work in the wood shop after school.
