General Description: The first semester of this course provides an overview of modern psychology in terms of both biological and social factors. The course will examine the brain and behavior, states of consciousness, motivation and emotion, learning principles and other aspects of psychology. The second semester will build upon what has been learned first semester and will also include social behavior, human development and abnormal psychology. This course fulfills senior social studies requirements or an elective requirement. This class uses a college textbook. Good reading and study skills are necessary. Students may elect to take the AP Psychology test in May for the chance to earn college credit. A fee will be charged for those students who elect to take the AP exam.
