Learning Recommendations: Visual Arts 1
General Description: This class will build on fine art skills learned in ART100 - Visual Art 1. Students will experience a higher level of skills including creating art from real life observation. A wide variety of painting and drawing techniques will be explored, as well as a continuous emphasis on the elements and principles of art throughout the semester.
Content: In this class, you will create artwork, expand on art techniques, look at historical art, begin to develop concepts for your own original work, and learn how to critically examine artwork.
Strategies: Students will learn through a combination of:
- Direct instruction.
- Individual projects based on the elements and principles of art.
- Daily one-on-one feedback.
Homework: On average, students should plan on 0-3 hours of homework per week. Homework will typically consist of finishing larger projects and finding picture references/planning for projects.
