Learning Recommendations:  Appropriate for all students, and serves as a base for Photography 2.

General Description:  This semester long course is designed to teach the fundamentals of photography. Students will investigate camera controls such as aperture, shutter speed, and ISO, elements of composition, the history of photography and its influences, various types of photography, and post processing Photoshop techniques.

  • Basic Photoshop editing techniques
  • Creative Photoshop techniques
  • Brief History of Photography
  • Critiques & Presentations

Strategies:  Students will learn through a combination of:

  • Hands on experience
  • Individual and team work
  • Research
  • Modeling

Homework:  Students will complete, on average, 1 photo assignment per class period. Any assignments not completed in class will need to be finished as homework.

Students will also be assigned 1 photo a week, a themed photo blog, as homework.
