Learning Recommendations: This course is designed for students that successfully completed Algebra 2 or Advanced Algebra and Trigonometry.  This course prepares students for Calculus or higher-level classes.  Students continue to learn the Washington State math standards in a fast-paced learning environment. 

General Description: This course is an in-depth study of rational, polynomial, logarithmic, exponential and trigonometric functions.

Content:

  • Parent functions and transformations
  • Periodic functions
  • Inverse trigonometric functions
  • Applications of trigonometric and circular functions
  • Trigonometric properties and identities
  • Triangle trigonometry
  • Properties of linear, exponential, power, logarithmic, and logistic functions
  • Conic sections
  • Polynomial and rational functions
  • Matrices
  • Vectors

Strategies: Students will learn through a combination of:

  • Direct instruction
  • Small group investigations and teacher-led investigations

Equipment to be provided by student: Graphing Calculator required, TI-Nspire (Not CAS) is recommended.  A limited number of these calculators are available for rental at the beginning of the year.
