Learning Recommendations: Second semester internships will be available for students in Teaching Academy.

General Description: This course is designed for students who are interested in a career in Education, including those looking at positions such as recreation specialist, coach, corporate trainer or education assistant. The Teaching Academy will include basic instruction at the high school early in the year and an internship at an elementary or secondary school in the Issaquah School District second semester.

Content:

  • Students learn current issues in education, teaching procedures, classroom management and professionalism.
  • Students observe in a variety of classrooms and have an opportunity to practice their own teaching skills in a supervised internship experience.

Equipment to be provided by Student: Students must provide their own transportation with minimum liability insurance of $100,000/$300,000 required.

Note: Students who complete this course with a "B" or better may qualify for college credit at various community and technical college programs.

Taking this class does not guarantee a parking space on campus.
