Learning Recommendations: Must have completed EN354A/B - Journalistic Writing prior to enrolling in Advanced Journalistic Writing.No application required for returning journalism students. Priority placement if sign up early with teacher/Forum advisor. Colleges will not accept two years of journalistic writing as college preparatory English.
General Description: Students possibly interested in Communications in post high school, and already proven in beginning journalism skills, serve in heightened leadership positions.
Content: Design, edit, manage, mentor, model, oversee, write and technologically produce varied real world aspects of compiling six (6) issues of The Forum for Skyline’s student and community base.
Strategies: Students will hone leadership skills through a combination of:
- Team collaboration
- Hands-on planning, design and production
- The writing process
- Direct instruction
- Large and small group discussion
Equipment to be provided by Student: USB memory stick (thumb drive) recommended
Note: Seniors should converse with the college of their choice regarding acceptance as an English credit.
This course does not meet the 12th grade English credit requirement if taken as an elective in the 11th grade.
