Learning Recommendations: Student should have an interest in photography, journalism/publishing, computer-based design and student leadership.

General Description: In this elective course the staff produces the school yearbook. Students must be self-starters, able to work in teams, be conscious of quality control, and will be held to real life deadlines. We will cover basic photography, interviewing techniques, copy writing, and page layout and design. Emphasis is on accurate and fair coverage of the school year. Some work beyond the regular school day is required.


  • Layout and design using Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop software
  • Writing copy, captions, and headlines
  • Libel and copyright issues
  • Digital photography
  • Publicity

Equipment to be provided by Student: Students will be required to attend selected school events. It is helpful if students have their own digital camera, but class cameras will be available for check out.

Note: This course counts as a Fine Art credit for graduation, but it may not meet the four-year college admissions requirement for Fine/Visual/Performing Arts.
