Learning Recommendations: This course is the second in a two-year progression. Students must have taken the first year of this course, SS650A/B - IB History of the Americas HL 1. This course prepares students for the Higher-Level exam in May. Students who took on-level US History who are interested in this course should register for the SL option.

General Description: This is a 20th century world history course based on a comparative and multi-perspective approach to history. The course emphasizes the importance of encouraging students to think historically and to develop historical critical analysis skills. This course will explore conflict as a driving force of change in the 20th Century. Specific topics covered will include the 20th century authoritarian states of Hitler and Castro, the causes and consequences of World War II, and origins and impact of the Cold War though a global lens with an emphasis on leaders, military crises and social/cultural impact.
